Operation," dated June.25, 2004 By letters dated June 28, 2004 (Ref. 1) and June 25, 2004 (Ref. 2), WVA submitted license amendment requests (LARs) for the EPU operation of BFN Unit 1, and BFN Units 2 and 3, respectively. The LARs would increase the maximum thermal power level of each reactor by approximately 14% to 3952 megawatts, which is 120% of the original licensed thermal power.

On August 11, 2009, WVA met with the NRC staff to discuss a path forward on 10 CFR 50, Appendix R, "Fire Protection Program fro Nuclear Power Facilities Operating Prior to January 1, 1979," with regard to COP credit. During that meeting TVA indicated that the proposed approach for COP would be submitted to the NRC on August 28, 2009. However, as agreed during a telephone conversation between E. Brown of the NRC and G. Arent of WVA on August 27, 2009, WVA will submit the proposed approach for COP by August 31, 2009.
