NORTH ANNA POWER STATION UNITS 1 AND 2 WITHDRAWAL OF RELIEF REQUEST CMP-24 Serial No.
09-114A NL&OS/ETS RO Docket Nos. 50-338/339 License Nos. NPF-4/7 In a February 18, 2009 letter (Serial No.09-114), Dominion requested approval of Relief Requests CMP-24 and CMP-25 for North Anna Units 1 and 2, respectively. The relief requests proposed an alternative to volumetric examination requirements of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code,Section XI, Table IWB-2500-1, Category B-F, Item B5.1 0, Reactor Vessel Nozzle to Safe-End Butt Welds for the remainder of the third inservice interval.
As noted in our February 18, 2009 letter, Dominion was scheduled to perform the reactor vessel nozzle to safe-end butt weld inspections during spring 2009 refueling outage for North Anna Unit 1. Although there was no expectation that an identifiable indication existed which would require depth sizing during the examinations, Dominion submitted the subject relief requests as a proactive contingency.
Dominion successfully completed the Unit 1 reactor vessel nozzle to safe-end butt weld inspections during the spring 2009 refueling outage.
Therefore, Dominion is withdrawing CMP-24.
However, Dominion continues to request approval of relief request CMP-25 by December 31, 2009 for Unit 2.
