DONALD C. COOK NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT 2 - WITHDRAWAL OF AN AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NO. ME1775)
Dear Mr. Jensen:
By letter dated July 17, 2009 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML092090262), Indiana Michigan Power Company (I&M) applied for an amendment to the Donald C. Cook Nuclear Plant, Unit 2, Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-74. The proposed change would have modified the facility technical specifications to allow a one-time extension of the completion times to restore an inoperable train of the Reactor Trip System and an inoperable train of the Engineered Safety Feature Actuation System. The proposed extension was requested as a contingency should the currently installed Multiplexer Test Switch in Train A of the Unit 2 Solid State Protection System fail during future surveillance testing.
The Multiplexer Test Switch was subsequently replaced during an unscheduled Unit 2 outage.
The requested license amendment is no longer needed. By letter dated August 5, 2009 (ADAMS Accession No. ML092260345), I&M withdrew the amendment request.
The purpose of this letter is to advise that the above-cited application is being treated as withdrawn. U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission activities on the review have ceased and the associated Technical Assignment Control Number (TAC No. ME1775) has been closed. Notice of Consideration of Issuance of the proposed amendment had not been published in the Federal Register.
