RE: March 4 ACRS Meeting Agenda Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2009 12:03:51 -0500

Dear Mr. Erdman,

A meeting notice recently appeared in the Federal Register. I am including a statement from that notice for your benefit:

Members of the public desiring to provide oral statements and/or written comments should contact Peter Wen via phone at 301-415-2832 or email at Peter.Wen@nrc.gov; or Yoira Diaz-Sanabria via phone at 301-415-8064 or email at Yoira.Diaz-Sanabria@nrc.gov before February 25, so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Electronic recordings will be permitted.

There will be an opportunity for members of the public to make statements during the meeting. According to the notice, you're not too late to request an opportunity to speak or submit comments. One of the contacts can assist you in scheduling such an opportunity.

On the staff's behalf, I will be making the presentation to the ACRS Subcommittee members. I can tell you that I do have a slide included on metal fatigue. As such, I do believe it will open the door for discussion by the Subcommittee.

I hope this information proves to be of some assistance.

March 4 ACRS Meeting Agenda

Dear Ms. Green,

I hope you'll remember me as the resident of Westchester County whose inquiry concerning metal fatigue at the Indian Point facility you kindly answered about a week ago.

I've been reviewing the material you sent me, in particular your passing observation that the agenda for the ACRS Subcommittee meeting on March 4 had not yet been set as of last Thursday, February 12.

Would it be possible to have a discussion of the issue of metal fatigue included in the agenda? I realize it may be a little late in the proceedings for such an inclusion, but would it still be possible? If so, how would I go about having the issue opened up for discussion by informed individuals on or connected with the committee?

2

I've noted that there is apparently time reserved for some form of public discussion in the Saturday afternoon session of the meeting. For what the information may be worth, if I were able to attend in person it would very probably have to be during that interval.

I apologize if my delay is placing you in an awkward position, but frankly it's been taking me some time to review the material you sent while mulling over the question of how seriously I think this issue should be taken. Meanwhile I'm worried I may be coming up against a deadline for getting the issue considered at all. So it seems best at this point to raise the question with you.

Thanks again for your attention to my inquiries. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely, Jim Erdman Hastings-on-Hudson, NY Netscape. Just the Net You Need.
