AVAILABILITY OF FINAL LICENSE RENEWAL INTERIM STAFF GUIDANCE LR-ISG-2007-02: CHANGES TO GENERIC AGING LESSONS LEARNED REPORT AGING MANAGEMENT PROGRAM XI.E6, ELECTRICAL CABLE CONNECTIONS NOT SUBJECT TO 10 CFR 50.49 ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Dear Mr. Riley:

The purpose of this letter is to inform you of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC or the staff) issuance of the final License Renewal Interim Staff Guidance (LR-ISG),

LR-ISG-2007-02, Changes to Generic Aging Lessons Learned (GALL) Report Aging Management Program (AMP) XI.E6, Electrical Cable Connections Not Subject to 10 CFR 50.49 Environmental Qualification Requirements. This final LR-ISG revises the AMP in Section XI.E6 of NUREG-1801, Revision 1, Volume 2, Generic Aging Lessons Learned (GALL) Report, dated September 2005. The final LR-ISG-2007-02 is approved for staff and stakeholder use and it will be incorporated into the upcoming GALL Report revision.

On September 6, 2007, the staff requested public comments on the proposed LR-ISG-2007-02 in a Federal Register notice (72 FR 51256). By letter dated October 18, 2007, the Nuclear Energy Institute provided comments; and, where appropriate, these comments have been incorporated into the final LR-ISG. Further, the staff and industry discussed aspects of this LR-ISG at several public meetings over the past year.

Enclosed are copies of the final LR-ISG-2007-02 and the Federal Register notice announcing its availability. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Matthew Homiack of my staff by telephone at 301-415-1683 or by e-mail at Matthew.Homiack@nrc.gov.

J. Riley Courtesy copies of this letter will be sent to other stakeholders to inform them of the availability of the final LR-ISG-2007-02.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Brian E. Holian, Director Division of License Renewal Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
