ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF DISPUTED VIOLATION
PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2,
INTEGRATED INSPECTION REPORT 05000282/2009002; 05000306/2009002
Dear Mr. Wadley:
This letter acknowledges your letter to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) dated
June 12, 2009, which provided a response to our Integrated Inspection Report issued on
May 14, 2009, concerning activities conducted at Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant.
The letter contested one of the Non-Cited Violations (NCVs) contained in the NRC Integrated
Inspection Report 05000282/2009002; 05000306/2009002, namely
NCV 05000282/2009002-04, associated with the Failure to maintain Unit 1 Reactor power
below the thermal power limitations stated in the facility operating license.
We are currently reviewing Northern States Power Company, Minnesotas basis for contesting
the NCV. The NRC seeks to be thorough and timely in the review of the licensees response to
the NCV. Accordingly, we will inform you as soon as we complete our evaluation of your
response to our inspection report.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be
available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the
