KEWAUNEE POWER STATION, NOTIFICATION OF INSPECTION AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 05000305/2009007
Dear Mr. Christian:
On August 17, 2009, the NRC will begin a license renewal inspection at the Kewaunee Power Station. This inspection will be performed in accordance with the NRC Inspection Procedure IP 71002, License Renewal Inspection. The on-site portion of the inspection will take place on August 17 through August 21, 2009, and August 31 through September 4, 2009. The results of this inspection will be documented in inspection report 05000305/2009007.
The lead inspector for this inspection is Caroline E. Tilton. We understand that our regulatory contact for this inspection is Mr. Jack Gadzala of your organization. If there are any questions about the inspection or this request, please contact the lead inspector at (630) 829-9718 or via e-mail at caroline.tilton@nrc.gov.
Experience has shown that these inspections are extremely resource intensive, both for the NRC inspectors and the applicant staff. In order to minimize the inspection impact on the site and to ensure a productive inspection for both parties, we would like to request the documents needed for the inspection. The lead inspector already has a copy of the original license renewal application. In order to ensure the inspection team is adequately prepared for the inspection, please provide a copy of any amendments to the application submitted after August 12, 2008.
This information should be made available via compact disc to the Regional Office no later than July 8, 2009. The lead inspector will coordinate with your staff to determine what additional information the team will review, or need access to, during the on-site inspection. It is important that all documents provided are up to date and complete.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the
