FACILITY: LIMERICK GENERATING STATION UNIT 1 AND UNIT 2

SUMMARY

OF THE MAY 21, 2009, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT OPEN HOUSE PUBLIC MEETING On May 21, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, the NRC conducted an Annual Assessment Open House Public Meeting at the Limerick Energy Information Center in Royersford, PA. The NRC conducted the open house meeting to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of the Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 and Unit 2 for the calendar year 2008.

A notice of the open house meeting was issued on April 13, 2009, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) website (ADAMS Accession No. ML091030520).

The NRC presented poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 and Unit 2 for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2008, as documented in our letter dated March 4, 2009 (ADAMS Accession No. ML090620797). The NRC poster boards presented include background on the Reactor Oversight Process. Additional information relative to the NRCs Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 and Unit 2 can be found on the NRCs website at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.

Members of the public, a representative of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and Exelon employees attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Exelons performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
