OF THE MAY 21, 2009, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE BRAIDWOOD STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On May 21, 2009, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at Fossil Ridge Library in Braidwood, IL. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and Exelon Generation Company management to discuss the NRC=s assessment of the safety performance of Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2, for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2008. The meeting notice and NRC presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML090980411 and ML091460796, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the Enclosure.
The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC=s Reactor Oversight Program (ROP), national ROP results, and the Action Matrix in general. This was followed by a discussion of the NRC=s assessment of the performance of Braidwood Station, Units 1 and 2, in calendar year 2008, which was documented in the March 4, 2009, End-Of-Cycle assessment letter, as ML090630284. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, Exelon briefly responded to the NRC=s assessment. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials.
