OF THE MAY 14, 2009, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE DRESDEN STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3, END-OF-CYCLE PLANT PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On May 14, 2009, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Grundy County Administration Center in Morris, Illinois. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and Exelon Generation Company management to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance of Dresden Station, Units 2 and 3, for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2008. The NRC letter and meeting notice for this meeting can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML091100226 and ML091100256, respectively. A list of principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the Enclosure.
The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRCs Mission, the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), and national ROP results. This was followed by a discussion of the NRCs assessment of the performance of Dresden Station, Units 2 and 3, for calendar year 2008, which was documented in the March 4, 2009, End-Of-Cycle assessment letter, as ML090630159.
As part of this regulatory performance meeting, Exelon briefly responded to the NRCs assessment. The presentation, including the licensees presentation, is documented as ML091400338. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials.
