SUMMARY
OF THE FEBRUARY 18, 2009 PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE NRC IP71002 LICENSE RENEWAL INSPECTION RESULTS On February 18, 2009, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Prairie Island Training Center Auditorium. The meeting was between NRC Region III management and Northern States Power Company representatives to discuss the results of a recent license renewal inspection, completed at the Prairie Island facility. The meeting request letter and meeting notice can be found in ADAMS as ML090350405 and ML090350406, respectively. A list of NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the Enclosure of this summary.
The inspectors concluded that there was reasonable assurance that the appropriate systems, structures and components were identified as being within scope of the license renewal efforts, and that the aging management programs as described, were sufficient to address aging effects for those systems, structures, and components. Several minor issues were identified, which were passed on to NRR for inclusion in their review of the application. At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials.
