POINT BEACH NUCLEAR PLANT REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF PLANT EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Dear Mr. Meyer:
We have received your request for waiver of responsible nuclear power plant experience for Mr. Richard L. Ellison (Docket 55-33290) to allow him to take a license examination to be administered by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in May 2009 at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant. The NRC has reviewed Mr. Ellisons experience at various nuclear stations, his experience in the U.S. Navy, and his experience at Point Beach Nuclear Plant since reporting there. It has been determined that his work experience completes all power plant experience requirements with the exception of six months at the Point Beach Nuclear Plant. It was determined that since being employed at Point Beach Nuclear Plant, Mr. Ellison successfully completed four months of power plant experience and that a deferral of two months of power plant experience is necessary for Mr. Ellison to sit for the May 2009 initial license examination.
Because all other requirements have been met for Mr. Ellison to complete operator licensing activities and no other waivers are needed, the NRC will grant the requested waiver. When the application for license for Mr. Ellison is submitted to the NRC, please request the waiver on the application, and the waiver will be granted at that time. Please reference this letter on the application.
Upon successful completion of the licensing examination Mr. Ellisons license will be withheld until you certify, in writing, that all license requirements have been completed. Upon your certification, an applicable license will be issued to Mr. Ellison to operate the Point Beach Nuclear Plant. We understand that upon successful completion of the licensing examination, Mr. Ellison will be immediately enrolled in the Point Beach Nuclear Plant continuing (requalification) licensed operator training program.
