Letter from Mr. J. A. Spina (CCNPP) to Document Control Desk (NRC),
dated August 27, 2008, License Amendment Request: Replacement of the Trisodium Phosphate Buffer with a Sodium Tetraborate Buffer In Reference (a), we requested a Technical Specification change to allow a change in the containment butfering agent from trisodium phosphate to sodium tetraborate.
During review of this request, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff raised an issue concerning the amount of nitric acid produced from beta irradiation of the water in Containment followi ng an accident.
Attachment (1) provides our evaluation of this concern.
This response does not change the No Significant Hazards Determination provided in Reference (a) and does not require a change to the previously submitted Technical Specification pages.
