REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NO. 125-1660 REVISION 1 1
12/8/2008 US-APWR Design Certification Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Docket No.52-021 SRP Section: 09.02.04 - Potable and Sanitary Water Systems Application Section: 9.2.4 QUESTIONS for Balance of Plant Branch 2 (ESBWR/ABWR) (SBPB) 09.02.04-1 In Tier 2 FSAR, Table 1.8-2 and Section 9.2.10, COL item 9.2(10) makes reference to all State and Local Department of Health of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Standards. It is not clear if the wording in this COL item is intended as a generic reference to state and local environmental protection requirements, or if Natural Resources Environmental Protection Standards is making reference to a specific set of standards and requirements.
Clarify COL 9.2(10) with regard to its reference to environmental protection standards.
Include this information in the FSAR and provide a markup in your response.
09.02.04-2 In Tier 2 FSAR, Table 1.8-2 and Section 9.2.10, COL item 9.2(16) makes reference to calculations performed for COL 9.2.4.2.1. It is not clear if COL 9.2.4.2.1 refers to another COL item. There does not appear to be an explanation of what is meant by COL 9.2.4.2.1, nor does there appear to be an explanation regarding the calculations performed for COL 9.2.4.2.1.
Clarify COL 9.2(16) with regard to its reference to calculations performed for COL 9.2.4.2.1. Include this information in the FSAR and provide a markup in your response.
09.02.04-3 In Tier 2 FSAR, Table 1.8-2 and Section 9.2.10, it appears that there is an editorial inconsistency within COL 9.2(13) related to the PSWS. COL 9.2(13) states: "COL Applicant is to identify the portable water supply and describe the system operation."
Clarify the use of "portable" in this phrase. Include this information in the FSAR and provide a markup in your response.
