SUBJECT: SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT ELECTRIC GENERATING STATION - SITE-

SPECIFIC IMPLEMENTATION OF B.5.B PHASE 2 AND 3 MITIGATING

STRATEGIES TEMPORARY INSTRUCTION INSPECTION (NRC INSPECTION

REPORT 05000498/2008007 AND 05000499/2008007)

Dear Mr. Halpin:

In a telephone conversation on November 10, 2008, Ms. Robyn Savage and Mr. John Kirkland

arranged for the NRC to inspect the site-specific implementation of B.5.b Phase 2 and 3

mitigating strategies at the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station. The inspection is

planned for the week of December 1, 2008.

In order for the NRC to adequately prepare for this inspection, please furnish the documents

listed in Enclosure 1 to Mr. John Kirkland in electronic format no later than November 21, 2008.

Please have available on site at the beginning of the inspection the arrangements and

documents listed in Enclosure 2. Ms. Robyn Savage has been advised of this request and

provided with the name and address of the NRC lead inspector.

This letter contains information collections that are subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of

1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.). These information collections were approved by the Office of

Management and Budget, approval number 3150-0011.

The public reporting burden for this collection of information is estimated to average four hours

per response, including the time for reviewing instructions, gathering and maintaining the data

needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information. Send comments on any
