CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, AND MCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 - WITHDRAWAL OF AN AMENDMENT REQUEST (TAC NOS. MD8867, MD8868, MD8869, AND MD8870)
Dear Messrs. Morris and Hamilton:
By letter dated May 7, 2008, you applied for an amendment to the Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, Renewed Facility Operating License NPF-35 and Renewed Facility Operating License NPF-52 and to the McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, Renewed Facility Operating License NPF-9 and to Renewed Facility Operating License NPF-17. The proposed change would have modified the facility operating licenses to allow operation with 4 lead test fuel assemblies with M5Ž clad fuel. M5Ž clad fuel is an advanced zirconium-based alloy. Subsequently, by letter dated October 14, 2008, you withdrew the amendment request.
The purpose of this letter is to advise that the above cited application is being treated as withdrawn. Notice of Consideration of Issuance of the proposed amendment had not been published in the Federal Register. Sincerely,
