PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2, INFORMATION REQUEST FOR AN NRC LICENSE RENEWAL INSPECTION
Dear Mr. Wadley:
On January 12, 2009, the NRC will begin a license renewal inspection at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant. This inspection will be performed in accordance with the NRC Inspection Procedure IP 71002. The on-site portion of the inspection will take place on January 12 through January 16, 2009, and January 26 through January 30, 2009.
The lead inspector for this inspection is Dr. Stuart Sheldon. We understand that our regulatory contact for this inspection is Mr. Jorge OFarrill (651-388-1121 (x7350)) of your organization. If there are any questions about the inspection or this request, please contact the lead inspector at (630) 829-9727 or via e-mail at Stuart.Sheldon@nrc.gov.
Experience has shown that these inspections are extremely resource intensive, both for the NRC inspectors and the applicant staff. In order to minimize the inspection impact on the site and to ensure a productive inspection for both parties, we would like to request the documents needed for the inspection. The lead inspector already has a copy of the original license renewal application. In order to ensure the inspection team is adequately prepared for the inspection, please provide a copy of any amendments to the application submitted after April 11, 2008. This information should be made available via compact disc to the Regional Office no later than December 22, 2008. The lead inspector will coordinate with your staff to determine what additional information the team will review, or need access to, during the onsite inspection. It is important that all documents provided are up to date and complete.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the
