October 29, 2008 Mr. Charles G. Pardee President and Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO), Exelon Nuclear Chief Nuclear Officer (CNO), AmerGen Energy Company, LLC 4300 Winfield Road Warrenville IL 60555

SUBJECT:

CLINTON POWER STATION SUBMITTAL OF KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES STATEMENTS THAT WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE RANDOM EXAM GENERATION PROCESS

Dear Mr. Pardee:

In a letter dated February 2, 2007, (U-603799) your staff provided a list of Knowledge and Ability (K/A) statements that were proposed to be excluded from the written examination generation process for the Clinton Power Station initial license examination to be completed in August 2007. Your staff submitted the K/A statements for review, comment, and approval to exclude the subject K/A statements from the Initial License Examination development process.

After a cursory review of the K/A list, your staff was given verbal acceptance of the provided list with the understanding that a complete review of the list would be conducted at a later date. We have completed our review of the K/A statements your staff proposed be excluded from your examination development process at Clinton Power Station and have determined that the list of items being excluded meet the requirements for suppression from examination item selection as stated in NUREG 1021, Revision 9, Supplement 1, "Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors." You are, therefore, authorized to suppress the K/As provided in the exclusion list from random selection in the written examination development process at Clinton Power Station. If you revise the provided list by adding K/As to the list, the revised list must be provided to the NRC for documentation, justification, and review in accordance with NUREG 1021 ES-401 D.1.b, Operator Licensing Examination Standards for Power Reactors," Revision 9, Supplement 1.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
