In Reference 2, the NRC issued the referenced CAL for Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (PINGP) Unit 2. The CAL confirmed commitments made by NMC in Reference 1 regarding Alloy 821182 butt welds on the PINGP Unit 2 pressurizer surge line nozzle. In Reference 1, NMC made three commitments:
- 1. Until all Alloy 600182/182 Pressurizer butt welds are either mitigated or replaced, all Alloy 600/82/182 Pressurizer butt welds will be examined every other refueling cycle.
- 2. Until all Alloy 600/82/182 Pressurizer butt welds are either mitigated or replaced, reports of future inspection results and any mitigative or corrective actions will be submitted to the NRC within 60 days of the end of the station refueling outage during which the inspectionlmitigation was performed.
- 3. NMC will notify NRC in writing prior to making any changes to the revised Commitments 1 or 2.
With this letter Northern States Power Company, a Minnesota corporation (NSPM),
notifies the NRC (as requested in Reference 2) that the commitments made in Reference 1 are closed, since the Alloy 821182 pressurizer butt welds have been mitigated by the application of a full structural weld overlay.
