RE: Extension Request to NRC for Implementation of TS Amendment 216 Diesel Fuel Oil Importance: High Kaly:

This email is a follow-up to our discussion at 3:20 PM CST regarding the inability to implement the OL Amendment 216 on October 31, 2008. The LBD process that is used at Waterford 3 is to complete an electronic Engineering Change (EC). Licensing is experiencing some technical problems with the processing of this change form that will not be resolved today and plant staff personnel will not be available to process the change tomorrow (10/31/08). Therefore, licensing is requesting an extension from the previously agreed upon date of 10/31/08 to 11/3/08 in order to complete the implementation process.

Thank you again for your patience as licensing works through this OL amendment implementation process.

As a followup to the previous email, the implementation of the Diesel Fuel Oil (DFO) TS involves a change to the contract with our DFO sample analysis vendor and the review of the DFO program changes with both the fuel oil supplier and the sample analysis vendor. Our implementation date for this TS will be extended to October 31, 2008. If you have any questions, please contact me.

This a follow-up to our telephone call this afternoon regarding implementation of Diesel Fuel Oil TS Amendment 216. Due to the plant's preparation for Hurricane Gustav landfall and recovery efforts regarding the plant equipment and damage to the infrastructure, efforts toward implementation of this amendment were impacted. Therefore, Waterford 3 Licensing is requesting an extension of the 60 day implementation date of the Amendment, which is scheduled to end on Sept 29, 2008. On Sept 29, 2008, I will follow-up this email with our requested completion date for the amendment implementation.

Thank you for your consideration to extend the amendment implementation date due to circumstances out of our control.
