10CFR Part 21 Reporting Thread sealant Issue The enclosed reports address a reportable notification for thread sealant.supplied by Namco to TVA - Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, Dominion Nuclear Connecticut, Ameren-Callaway Plant, Alabama Power - Farley Nuclear Plant, New Brunswick - Point Lepreau Gen. Station.
A copy of the report has also been sent to each of the affected users, TVA - Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, Dominion Nuclear Connecticut, Ameren-Callaway Plant, Alabama Power -
Farley Nuclear Plant, New Brunswick - Point Lepreau Gen. Station.
On September 19, 2008, Namco determined that it had shipped product that did not meet the customer purchase order requirements. Namco supplied clear thread sealant instead of white thread sealant. The thread sealants are the same except that the white has an additional pigmentation additive.. Namco began an evaluation and on September 29, 2008, determined that it did not have the capability to determine the impact to the supplied users. Therefore in accordance with 10CFR Part 21, Namco provided notification.
Namco has reviewed previous purchase orders of thread sealant and determined that these are the only affected customers.

The thread sealant is identified by Namco part number EH459-20000, lot 411920 (Ameren part number 7649033).
Purpose:
The purpose of this Namco Information Notice.is to alert Ameren that as of September 19,
.2008, Namco became aware of the possibility of a.situation which may impact the performance of your equipment. Namco began an evaluation and determined on September 29, 2008, that it did not have the capability to. determine the impact to your organization.
We are informing you of this circumstance in accordance with'21.21 (b) of 10CFR21.
Applicability:
This notice applies only to the thread sealant mentioned above supplied by Namco under Ameren PO 383106 SR. Namco Qualification Test Report (Qtr1 26) requires white thread
.sealant and Ameren PO 383106 SR requires material in accordance with Qtr 126.
Discussion:
Namco has determined thatthe material provided did not meet the requirements of Ameren PO 383106 SR.
Specifically the discrepancies are:
- 1. Clear thread sealant was provided instead of white thread sealant.
Per statement from Namco engineering, the materials are the same except that the white material has an additional pigmentation additive.

Corrective Action Namco commercially grade dedicates this material through material testing at a third party.
The color check has been added to the material test specifications. All material tests are reviewed by quality personnel as part of the acceptance plan.
Action Required Contact.Namco Customer. Service at 1-800-476-6952 to obtain an RMA number for return and replacement of the material.
10CFR21 Implications Namco requests that the recipient of this notice review it and take appropriate action in accordance with 10CFR21.
