HUMBOLDT BAY POWER PLANT UNIT 3 - TERMINATION OF ORDER FOR INTERIM SAFEGUARDS AND SECURITY COMPENSATORY MEASURES (EA-02-077) (TAC NO. J00337)
Dear Mr. Conway:
On May 23, 2002, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued an Order for Interim Safeguards and Security Compensatory Measures to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) for Humboldt Bay Power Plant, Unit 3. This Order applied to decommissioning nuclear power plants with spent fuel in the spent fuel pool. By correspondence dated December 11, 2008, you have reported that all fuel has been removed from the spent fuel pool and requested that the Order be rescinded. Accordingly, as provided in Section III of the Order, I hereby grant your request and rescind the Order. PG&E shall continue to adhere to the terms and conditions of the Humboldt Bay Power Plant, ISFSI license and the Commission's regulations. As a consequence of this action, PG&E is no longer authorized to use the Humboldt Bay spent fuel pool to store spent fuel.
