VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION DOCKET NO. 50/395 OPERATING LICENSE NO. NPF-12 SPECIAL REPORT (SPR) 2008-005 South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) is submitting this report pursuant to the requirements of Technical Specification 3.3.3.1.b. This report addresses the inoperability of the Main Steam Line radiation monitor RM-G1 9C for greater than 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br />. During the inoperable period, V. C. Summer Nuclear Station is implementing a preplanned alternate method of monitoring in accordance with the requirements of Action 30 of the Technical Specification.

RM-G19C was declared inoperable September 2, 2008. Currently, SCE&G is working with the vendor to determine the cause and corrective actions. SCE&G will provide a supplemental report once the cause and corrective actions are determined.
