Summary of Conference Call with NEI/Industry on August 25, 2008 to discuss of DC/COL-ISG-001, item 4.3.1 Evaluation of Screened-In Equipment/components of the high frequency sensitive mechanical and electrical components.
The purpose of the call was to discuss the proposed changes to the final ISG-001 on Seismic Spectra, (issued May 19, 2008) over wording on screening criterion for high frequency sensitive mechanical and electrical components. Specifically, the industry suggested revising Paragraph 4.3 concerning evaluation as opposed to qualification and clarifying requirements for the test procedure in Section 4.3.1. The staff did not agree with the industry mark up and maintained that the guidance as issued was sound. During the call, staff and industry came to realize that the confusion was with the components screening portion of the process, not with component qualification following screening in. The staff clarified that the issue of screening is currently being discussed with the vendor i.e. Westinghouse in this regard. This issue can be the subject of another conference call, if necessary.
Final Resolution: The ISG as issued in May 19, 2008 was sound and no changes were warranted.
