Dear Sir or Madam:

By letter dated May 30, 2008 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML081550211), as supplemented by letters dated July 9 and 10, 2008 (ADAMS Accession No. ML081820012 and ML081930267, respectively), Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy) requested approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission relief from the requirements of the 1992 Edition and the 2001 Edition with the 2003 Addenda of American Society of Mechanical EngineersSection XI for the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1. The request for alternative proposed a risk-informed selection and examination program as an alternative to a portion of the current inservice inspection (ISI) program based on ASME Code Case N-716, Alternative Piping Classification and Examination Requirements,Section XI, Division 1.

In the Entergy letter dated July 14, 2008, Mr. Dale James of your staff withdrew the relief request and associated commitments.

The purpose of this letter is to advise that the above-cited request is being treated as withdrawn.
