SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - RE: WITHDRAWAL OF RELIEF REQUEST RR-ENG-2-50 (TAC NOS. MD6955 AND MD6956)
Dear Mr. Halpin:
In the application dated October 2, 2007 (NOC-AE-07002211, Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML072830449), STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC) requested approval of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Code Case N-698, "Design Stress Intensities and Yield Strength Values for UNS NO6690 With a Minimum Specified Yield Strength of 35 ksi (240 MPa), Class 1 Components," as an alternative to the requirements of Section III of the 1989 Edition of the ASME Code for the fabrication of a replacement reactor vessel head for South Texas Project, Units 1 and 2. There were no commitments in the application.
In the letter dated June 18, 2008 (NOC-AE-08002311, ADAMS Accession No. ML081760285),
STPNOC withdrew the relief request in its application dated October 2, 2007. Since the above ASME Code Case N-698 has been approved by the NRC for use and is published in Revision 34 to NRC Regulatory Guide 1.84, t he relief request was no longer required.
The purpose of this letter is to advise that the above - cited application is being treated as withdrawn and the subject TAC numbers shall be closed.
