WOLF CREEK GENERATING STATION POWER PLANT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (Brief description of the conference call)
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of WCNOC held a telephone conference call on June 3, 2008, to discuss and clarify the status of the SER open items 4.3-1 and 4.3-3 and associated commitments. Open items 4.3-1 and 4.3-3 are based on commitments that the applicant provides additional analyses to address the staffs concerns on the validity of metal fatigue analyses used to support the metal fatigue monitoring program for the LRA. These are under ongoing review for open items closure.
Discussion:
During the conference call, the applicant informed the staff that supplemental information will be submitted to further clarify the intent of the additional analyses in relation to the aging management program addressing the effects of metal fatigue on aging of components that have intended functions associated with license renewal. The submittal is scheduled for the week of June 8, 2008. The staff emphasized the need for early submittal to avoid adverse impact to the project schedule. The SER is scheduled to be issued July 29, 2008.
