SUMMARY

OF THE MAY 15, 2008, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2007 CLINTON NUCLEAR POWER STATION END-OF-CYCLE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On May 15, 2008, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Warner Library in Clinton, Illinois. The meeting was between NRC Region III and Exelon Generation Company representatives to discuss the NRCs 2007 End-of-Cycle Performance Assessment of the Clinton Nuclear Power Station. The results of that assessment were discussed in a letter to the licensee dated March 3, 2008 (ADAMS ML080600252).

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC and the nuclear industry, the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), and national ROP results. This was followed by a summary of the NRCs assessment of Clinton Nuclear Power Station performance in 2007. The NRCs meeting presentation slides can be found in ADAMS at ML081420828. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the attached Enclosure.

Messrs. F. Kearney and M. Kanavos of Exelon Generation provided an oral response to the NRCs assessment. Mr. Kearney also described Clinton stations investment in safe operation, commitment to the environment, and responsibility to be good community stewards. The licensee concurred with the NRC assessment that Clinton Nuclear Power Station operated in a manner that preserved the health and safety of the public and the environment.

At the end of the meeting, members of the public were given the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials and the licensee representatives.
