Dear Mr. Norton:

We are writing to congratulate you and your staff on the significant accomplishment of safely and successfully completing decommissioning activities at the former Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company site in East Hampton, Connecticut. This campaign allowed spent fuel to be safely transferred for onsite storage at the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation and the former Protected Area for the nuclear power facility to be released for unrestricted use.

These actions were accomplished while maintaining standards for radiological and industrial safety. In particular, we acknowledge your efforts to obtain input from the State of Connecticut and other stakeholders to enhance the project outcome.

We appreciated the professional manner of the interactions among our staffs as we sought to ensure that NRC regulatory requirements were met.
