(collectively, Dominion) provided a response to NRC Generic Letter 2007-01, Inaccessible or Underground Power Cable Failures that Disable Accident Mitigation Systems or Cause Plant Transients, issued February 7, 2007. That response was prepared in accordance with the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) March 16,2007 industry letter (Guidance for Response to GL 2007-01). The NRC provided additional guidance on how to determine which cable failures were within the scope of the generic letter in an NRC letter to NEI dated April 13, 2007.
On January 16, 2008, the NRC forwarded by electronic mail a Request for Additional Information (RAI) concerning our GL 2007-01 response.
The NRC specifically requested: "Confirm that the history was prepared in accordance with NRC guidance. If Dominion's response to GL 2007-01 excluded cable failures based on the NEI guidance (i.e., not following the NRC quidance), provide the data for these failures as requested in GL 2007-01."
Serial No. 07-0268A Docket Nos. 50-280/281,338/339, 336/423, 305 Page 2 of 3 As requested by the above referenced RAI, Dominion confirms that our May 7, 2007 response to GL 2007-01 (Serial No. 07-0268) was prepared in accordance with the NEI guidance and is likewise consistent with the guidance subsequently issued by NRC letter dated April 13, 2007 from M. J. Case (NRC) to J. H. Riley (NEI). No additional degraded cables have been identified.
