Summary of Verbal Relief

Mike, This is a confirmation of our teleconference today where the NRC staff verbally approved a proposed alternative to the ASME Code to allow the performance of a preemptive full structural weld overlay on the pressurizer surge, spray, and safety line welds at Seabrook. The verbal approval was based on the FPLE letters dated July 3, 2007 and February 13, 2008. The following points were clarified during the teleconference:

-FPLE will submit the preliminary non-destructive examination (NDE) report within 14 Days after completion of the ultrasonic exams.

-FPLE will submit the final NDE report within 60 days of completion of the ultrasonic exams.

-The resident inspector will be notified within 48 hours2 days <br />0.286 weeks <br />0.0658 months <br /> identification of any flaws that exceed the acceptance standards of Table IWB-3514-2.
