Indian River 2.206

Dear NRC,

I am filing a 2.206 regarding the Indian River Plant.

I request that the NRC use professional discretion and judgement in regards to alleged minor safety issues at said -plant. I specifically request that extremists who wish to abuse the NRC by the filing of requests for extreme action against operators be ignored. The NRC should seek to avoid being manipulated by ill-informed anti-nuclear bigots into a position where it is an ineffective agency. The NRC and the nuclear industry has demonstrated over several decades that nuclear power is safe, pollution free and dependable. The national interest has been harmed by the lack of new nuclear power plants in the United States. If America produced as much electricity from nuclear sources as France, our air would be substantially cleaner. Instead, anti-nuclear extremists have so dominated the discourse that common sense, proven technologies like nuclear power have not been properly developed.

Without compromising safety, I request that any enforcement action against Indian River be based on facts, be proportional, and be reasonable.

Not permitting people who have made a career of being reflexively anti-nuclear set the agenda is good for America.
