TALKING POINTS ON TRANSITION FROM WACKENHUTiWCBS
- Exelon has announced it is terminating its contract with Wackenhut as the contractor for the security guards at Peach Bottom.
" NRC will review the company's transition plan.
- Since learning of the issue at Peach Bottom, the NRC has increased inspection oversight at the plant, including dispatching an Augmented Inspection Team to get a fuller understanding of the issue and to assure that adequate security is being provided at the site.
" There is no immediate safety concern. We believe the site is secure.
" It is important to understand that the security of the facility does not rely on one individual or set of individuals, rather it is based on a foundation of overlapping and integrated defensive strategies. The NRC staff considers the issues that have been raised as potentially significant and as a result has formed an Augmented Inspection Team which arrived on-site last Friday, September 2 1st.
