Ann Marie Stone 9/3/03 3:23PM Byron overpower ? / Westinghouse Letter NSAL 03-6 Ann Marie, Last Wednesday I informed you (via e-mail) that the licensee thought that they had instances where they had exceeded their licensed thermal power after evaluating Westinghouse letter NSAL 03-6 "High Net Heat Input."
As you recall that letter described a minor non-conservative error in net heat calculations. The error was calculated by the licensee to be about.02% power.
The licensee had to evaluate if they did in fact operate over 99.98% power then since power uprate.
- However, later via another e-mail I said that the licensee then told me that they may have made a mistake and were going to take a better look at past power to two decimal places in their official records.
After doing taking a more detailed look using their reportability manual (which contains guidance from the Jordan letter) and their official power records to two decimal places Byron has determined that they DO NOT have any reportable overpowers per NSAL 03-6.
Supposedly they had instances where they were close but upon applying the Jordan letter guidance they determined that they were not reportable.
I will be following up on this to see these instances and bounce them off of the letter to see if what they are saying makes sense to me.
They told me that Braidwood has identified overpowers as a result of this and that they will make a 24 hour2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
notification call per their license.
