TRANSMITTAL LETTER FOR DHS/FEMA EXERCISE FINAL REPORT TO D.C. COOK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT
Dear Mr. Rencheck:
We have received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
Region V final exercise report, dated November 21, 2007, for the August 14, 2007 plume exposure pathway exercise at the D. C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant (ADAMS Accession No. ML073340116).
Three Areas Requiring Corrective Action (ARCA) were identified by FEMA Region V staff. One ARCA was identified for the State of Michigan for problems which occurred with the protective action decision making. Two other ARCAs were identified for Berrien County, of which one remained unresolved. The first ARCA for Berrien County was associated with protective action implementation and was successfully resolved. The second ARCA was associated with emergency notification and public information and had not yet been resolved. No Deficiencies were identified.
We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be implemented may involve parties and political institutions which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we expect that assistance, if appropriate, will be extended.
