COMMENCEMENT OF DRY CASK STORAGE CAMPAIGN AT INDIAN POINT
Dear Mr. Pollock:
This refers to your letter dated January 2, 2008, responding to observations made by NRC inspectors who observed significant portions of dry cask storage "dry run" activities at the Indian Point Energy Center.
We understand that, in response to NRC inspector observations, you implemented additional actions to provide enhanced oversight of dry cask storage activities. These activities include: assigning dedicated superintendents responsible only for dry cask storage activities to each shift, and requiring additional observations of dry cask storage activities by nuclear oversight and shift management personnel. We will evaluate the actions that you described in your letter in future inspection activities related to dry cask storage of spent fuel at the Indian Point Energy Center.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system, and is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
