50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) - GENERIC LETTER (GL) 88-20, SUPPLEMENT NO. 4, "INDIVIDUAL PLANT EXAMINATIONS OF EXTERNAL EVENTS (IPEEE) FOR SEVERE ACCIDENT VULNERABILITIES -

10 CFR 50.54(f)"

Reference:

TVA letter to NRC dated September 18, 1992 The purpose of this letter is to transmit SQN's final report to the subject GL request. The referenced letter committed to provide the report for Unit 1 by June 30, 1995, and Unit 2 by November 1, 1995. However, the attached report is for both units; therefore, it completes both commitments.

It should be noted that the report indicates that TVA is presently modifying the residual heat removal system heat exchanger support legs on both units. This modification was a result of the IPEEE review and the physical work is now complete on both units. In addition, during the final review.of the IPEEE walkdowns, it was determined that an additional modification was required. It was discovered that the clearance between a reactor coolant pump seal return valve and the crane wall was not sufficient to prevent contact after system heatup. Since the results of the report had been finalized at the time of the discovery, this modification requirement is not contained in the subject report.
