FORT CALHOUN STATON, UNIT 1 - WITHDRAWAL OF AN EXEMPTION REQUEST (TAC NO. MD6969)
Dear Mr. Bannister:
By letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) dated June 29, 2007, Omaha Public Power District (OPPD, the licensee) applied for an exemption for the Fort Calhoun Station, Unit No. 1. OPPD had proposed an exemption to the requirements of Part 50 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Appendix R,Section III.G.1.b, for Fire Area 31.
The NRC staff determined that the exemption request did not meet the NRC acceptance criteria and requested that the licensee withdraw its request. As such, by letter dated December 7, 2007, OPPD withdrew the exemption request.
The purpose of this letter is to advise that the above-cited exemption is being treated as withdrawn.
