Dear Sir or Madam:

We appreciate you sending us notice of this project. In case you weren't aware there is a difference between state and federally recognized tribes. With federally recognized tribes there is a standing Executive Order 13175 for consultation and coordination between federally recognized tribes and the US government.

Under 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, federal agencies that have oversight over projects involving federal monies, licenses or permits interested are also required to consult with tribes. Also under 106 interested parties are also invited to comment on projects and their potential impacts. It is my understanding state tribes fall into this category of "interested parties." There are approximately 17 federally recognized tribes with an interest in southeastern Oklahoma.In Georgia we have a known historic presence.
