December 13, 2007 Mr. Gene St. Pierre Site Vice President FPL Energy Seabrook, LLC Seabrook Station c/o James M. Peschel P.O. Box 300 Seabrook, NH 03874
SUBJECT:
CHANGE TO THE INSPECTION PLAN FOR THE SEABROOK STATION
Dear Mr. St. Pierre:
As part of a periodic self-assessment, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) thoroughly reviewed the inspection procedures to ensure the continued effective application of inspection resources. The main objective of the review was to determine the appropriate inspection scope for the majority of the inspection procedures in the reactor oversight process (ROP). The result of this effort (designated ROP realignment) created changes to both inspection scope and/or inspection frequency for selected inspection procedures in the ROP. The purpose of this letter is to update the schedule of future inspection activities at your facility that was provided with the mid-cycle assessment letter in August 2007. Please note that there were no changes made to inspection procedures in the security, emergency preparedness, and health physics areas.
The enclosed inspection plan details the inspections (less those related to physical protection) scheduled for calendar year 2008. The inspection plan is provided to resolve any scheduling and/or personnel availability issues well in advance of the inspector(s) arrival onsite. Routine resident inspections are not listed due to their continuous nature.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules and Practices a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of the NRCs document system (ADAMS).
ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (The Public Electronic Reading Room).
G. Pierre 2 Please contact me at 610-337-5069 with any questions you may have regarding this letter or the inspection plan.
Sincerely,
/RA/
