Re: Docket Nos 50-247-LR; 50-286-LR ASLBP No. 07-858-03-LR-BDO1 Request for Extension to File Formal Requests for Hearing and Petitions to Intervene with Contentions
Dear Honorable Chairman McDade,
Judge Wardwell and Judge Lathrop:
Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc. ("Clearwater"), hereby requests on its own behalf, and on behalf of all stakeholders, that it, and all stakeholders, be granted a ten (10) dayextension of time until December 10, 2007, for filing a Petition to Intervene and Request for Hearing in the above referenced license renewal proceeding. We understand that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, by Order dated November 16, granted a ten day extension until December 10 upon a similar extension request by Friends United for Sustainable Energy (FUSE).
On October 1, 2007, the Commission extended the original deadline from October 1, 2007 to November 30, 2007. See 72 Fed. Reg. 55834. Since October 1, 2007, the NRC's ADAMS system has been inaccessible to the public for a substantial period of time which has interrupted Clearwater's access to the license renewal application and supporting materials. Specifically, on or about October 20, 2007, ADAMS began crashing intermittently, and for about 16 days it was completely inaccessible to external

users. Use was restored on or about November 15, 2007. As a result, Clearwater and other stakeholders have not had access to critical documents including the license renewal application for a substantial period of time. This requested extension is in the best interest of the public health and safety, as well as the integrity of the relicensing process.
In light of the time sensitive nature of this request, we respectfully request a response as soon as is reasonably possible.
Thank you very much.
