Indian Point EIS Comments Bo Pham
Dear Bo Pham,
I am willing to make a leap of faith that there will be no accident or terrorist attack at Indian Point, that no environmental damage is being incurred by the plant's operation and that all employees at every level of Entergy is doing and will continue do their jobs flawlessly.
HOWEVER, the retention of lethal nuclear waste and the prospect of adding to that buildup for the next 25 years and the notion of keeping that waste on site for an additional 30 years after that remains UNCONSCIONABLE and UNACCEPTABLE! To couch this practice with euphemisms such as "storage", involving "containment buildings" and "cooling pools" serves only the corporate interests of Entergy, not the public interest. Indian Point is a DUMP. Does the NRC have a plan about where to move all that nuclear garbage? Does Congress? Does Entergy? Should local residents, their children, grandchildren and beyond - for countless future generations - expect to be living under the shadow of this nuclear dump for their natural lifetimes? What happened to the tradition of leaving a better world for our children and those who come after us?
