Unit 1 Schedule John-The key milestones for the removal of the fuel from Unit 1 are as follows: As we have discussed, the mission is to have all the fuel moved to the pad (begin offload summer 2008) and pools drained of water by the end of 2008, thereby physically removing the source term for the leak.It is important to also note that we have;Installed a continuously operating pool water cleanup system which has substantially reduced the pool water source term (and therefore source leak to ground water) and this system will remain in operation throughout the fuel off load and water draining process. We have a long-term monitoring program in operation that will assess the effect of the source removal and natural attenuation going forward. When the pools are drained we will process the water as plant effluent to ensure the final effluent is monitored and meets ALARA principals.
