John White-IPEC status report for July 13 Page 2 1 July 13 2007 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100 percent power and has been online for 44 days. Unit 3 is operating at 100 percent reactor power and has been on line for 72 days.
NRC Appoints New Inspectors for Indian Point 3 The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has assigned Paul C. Cataldo as the new senior resident inspector and Christopher A. Hott as the new resident inspector at Indian Point Unit 3.
Cataldo was the NRC's senior resident inspector at the Beaver Valley nuclear power plant in Shippingport, Pa. Prior to that, he was a resident inspector at the Millstone nuclear power plant in Waterford, Conn. Hott's previous assignment was as a project engineer in the NRC Region I Division of Reactor Projects. He joined the agency in 2003.
Both Cataldo and Hott hold degrees in nuclear engineering and have served in the U.S. Navy Nuclear program.
There are four resident inspectors at Indian Point, two at each unit.
Educational Outreach Entergy Nuclear Northeast provides customized outreach education programs for schools, youth groups, and civic organizations. The topics we cover include Emergency Planning, Understanding Radiation, Nuclear Fuel and a general overview of the operations of Indian Point Energy Center.
