• Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100 percent power and has been online for 85 days. Unit 3 is operating at 100 percent reactor power and has been on line for 113 days.

Entergy Responds to NRC Order on Sirens Entergy Nuclear today notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Federal Emergency Management Agency that a new, state-of-the-art, siren alert system for Indian Point Energy Center is ready to be placed into service pending federal reviews.

In a May 23 letter to the NRC, Entergy had committed to be ready to place the system into service by Aug. 24.

During the reviews by FEMA and the NRC of the information Entergy provided, two siren systems will be available for use at Indian Point. The system now in service will remain the primary notification system until the reviews end.

Entergy will be working with the NRC, FEMA and the four counties in the Emergency Planning Zone to support the review process.

The new system meets the NRC's design requirements, including backup power for each siren system component, from computers to the radios used to activate each of the 155 sirens. Reviews will continue on the performance of the new siren system over several months.

NRC to Conduct Meeting on Environmental Scoping Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff will conduct two public meetings on Wednesday, Sept. 19, on the environmental review related to the license renewal application for Indian Point.

Members of the public are invited to attend and comment on environmental issues they believe the NRC should consider during the license renewal process.

There will be two sessions held that day at Colonial Terrace, 119 Oregon Road in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.

IJoh'n White - Aug 23 2007.doc Page 2 1 The first session will begin at 1:30 p.m. and continue until 4:30 p.m. The second session, which will follow the same format as the first meeting, will get under way at 7 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m. The NRC will host an "open house" beginning 1 hour1.157407e-5 days
2.777778e-4 hours
1.653439e-6 weeks
3.805e-7 months
before the start of each meeting to provide members of the public with an opportunity to talk informally with agency staff. However, formal comments must be expressed during the transcribed meetings. Both sessions will start with an overview and an NRC staff presentation on the environmental review process for license renewal applications.

After the NRC presentation, audience members will be given the opportunity to present their comments on environmental issues.
