1 Indian Point Energy Center Status Report August 9, 2007 Operational Status Indian Point Unit 2 is operating at 100 percent power and has been online for 71 days. Unit 3 is operating at 100 percent reactor power and has been on line for 99 days.
Entergy to Test New Sirens on Aug. 11 and Aug. 14 Entergy Nuclear and Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties are testing the new Indian Point emergency notification sirens on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 10:00 a.m. he full volume siren test on Saturday will acquaint the public to the sound of the new sirens.
Also, as part of federal requirements, Entergy, working with the four counties, will sound the sirens at full volume for four minutes on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m. as part of a comprehensive performance validation program.
During both tests, the new sirens will sound simultaneously at full-volume for four minutes in the portion Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam counties that are within I 0-miles of Indian Point, located in Buchanan, NY. WHUD Radio (100.7 FM) will test the Emergency Alert System immediately after each siren test.
THESE TESTS ON AUGUST 11 AND AUGSUT 14 REQUIRE NO RESPONSE BY THE PUBLIC.
Additionally, Entergy is conducting "silent" tests six times each day on the new siren system through tomorrow.. The silent tests occur in the morning, mid-afternoon and in the early evening, allowing Entergy to monitor the performance of each siren and the communications to them. During a silent test, the public may hear the new sirens make a popping sound followed by a high-pitched tone, similar to turning a speaker on.
