VERMONT YANKEE UNION WORKERS ON STRIKE On August 25, 2007, at 3:30 p.m., members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local Union 300, commenced a strike at the Vermont Yankee (VY) station.
The union represents licensed reactor operators; non-licensed operators; maintenance, electrical, and instrumentation and controls technicians; chemistry technicians; radiation protection technicians; and other administrative personnel. Security personnel at VY are members of a different union and have a different contract which does not expire on the same date.
The resident inspectors, supplemented by regional inspectors, have implemented 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> shift coverage for the first four weeks of the strike. The DRP Branch Chief for VY is on site for the initial days of the strike to assist the resident staff and observe the licensee's staff during plant evolutions.
The applicable state officials of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, were informed of the strike.
