DAILY STAFF NOTES REGION I August 8, 2007 On August 17, the Vermont Yankee resident inspectors were informed that members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 300, Unit 8, agreed to a contract extension until midnight on August 22, 2007. The contract originally would have expired at midnight on August 19, 2007. The union membership has voted to authorize union leadership to call for a strike if there is no agreement on August 22, 2007. Region I preparations include reviewing the licensee's strike contingency plan, following progress of negotiations, and preparing an NRC watchbill if developments indicate a job action may occur.
