Dear Dr. Klein:
Thank you for your quick response to recent allegations that security guards employed by Wackenhut Nuclear Services at the Peach Bottom nuclear power plant in York County, Pennsylvania were inattentive while on duty. We appreciate that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission promptly notified us of your official investigation into these allegations.
We request that you or the appropriate member of your staff provide us with a full briefing on the findings of your investigation as soon as it is concluded.
While we understand there were no immediate security threats to the communities surrounding the Peach Bottom plant, the safety and security of our constituents remains our top priority. We are very concerned thatthe security company involved at Peach Bottom also provides security to about half of our domestic nuclear power plants. For this reason, we urge you to takes steps to ensure that. similar incidents have not occurred at other nuclear plants in Pennsylvania or in other states.
We look forward to meeting with you to discuss the outcome of your investigation and to ensure that our nuclear power plants are secured and safe.
