Dear Sir or Madam:
On July 31, 2007, Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (ENO) requested relief from certain sections of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI, 2001 Edition with addenda through 2003, for repair of a 16-inch service water pipe with through-wall leakage. EN0 requested approval to use ASME Code Case N-513-2, "Evaluation Criteria for Temporary Acceptance of Flaws in Moderate Energy Class 2 or 3 Piping," with a modification to extend the duration of the use of the code case until the end of fuel cycle 20.
EN0 subsequently identified a repair method that met ASME Code,Section XI, IWA-4000 "RepairIReplacement Activities." A Code repair is currently in progress.
Therefore, EN0 is withdrawing the relief request because it is no longer needed.
Summarv of Commitments This letter contains no new commitments and no revisions to existing commitments.
The Code repair satisfies the commitment made in the July 31, 2007, submittal to perform repair or replacement in accordance with the applicable code requirements no later than the end of fuel cycle 20.
